Privacy policy
Last updated October 3, 2026
In short: We don't use analytics, advertising trackers or cookies. Our host keeps basic server logs for security. If you email us, we keep your message to reply. The calculator runs in your browser and we don't store your numbers. We never sell your information.
Who is responsible for your information
The data controller is Print Systems Lab, based in Scotland, United Kingdom. For anything about privacy, email privacy@printsystemslab.com.
What we collect and why
When you visit the site
Like almost every website, our host (our hosting provider) automatically records technical information when your browser requests a page: your IP address, the date and time, the page address requested, the referring page, and your browser and device type. We use these server logs only to keep the site running and secure, for example to spot attacks and fix errors. We don’t use them to build a profile of you.
Legal basis (UK/EU GDPR): our legitimate interest in operating a secure website.
When you use the calculator
The calculator works entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter are not sent to us or stored by us. If you change a value, the page address updates so you can share your results. That address, including your numbers, could appear in our host’s server logs if you or someone you share it with loads it. The numbers alone don’t identify you.
When you email us
If you contact us, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you write. We use it to reply, to fix errors you report and to keep a record of the conversation.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering your message, or taking steps at your request.
When you click an affiliate link
If you click a link to a seller, you leave our site. That seller or its affiliate network may use cookies or similar technology to record that you came from us, so we can be paid a commission if you buy. They act as independent controllers under their own privacy policies. Any reports we receive from them show sales and commission totals, not your identity.
What we don’t do
- We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, or social media pixels.
- We load our fonts from our own server, not from Google or other third parties.
- We don’t sell, rent or trade personal information, and we don’t “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising (as those terms are used in US state privacy laws).
- We don’t make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
- We don’t knowingly collect information from children. The site is for businesses and isn’t aimed at anyone under 16. If you think a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
If we ever add analytics, a newsletter or anything else that collects more information, we will update this policy before we do, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with:
- our hosting provider and email provider, who process it on our behalf under contract and only on our instructions;
- professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, where needed;
- authorities, if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
International transfers
Our service providers may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, we rely on the UK’s adequacy arrangements (such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework) or on approved contractual safeguards (such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum), so your information keeps an equivalent level of protection.
How long we keep it
- Server logs: kept by our host for a short period, normally no more than 30 days unless needed to investigate a security problem.
- Emails: up to two years after our last contact, unless we need them longer to deal with a legal claim.
Keeping it secure
The site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. We collect as little as possible and limit who can access it. No system is completely secure, but we will tell you and the regulator about any breach where the law requires us to.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to ask for a copy of your information, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
If you are in the United States, depending on your state, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to access it, correct it, delete it and get a copy, and to opt out of its sale, sharing or use for targeted advertising. We don’t do any of those things. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. You may use an authorized agent, and if we refuse a request you may appeal by replying to our decision.
To make any request, email privacy@printsystemslab.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within one month (UK/EU) or 45 days (US), and tell you if we need longer.
Complaints
Please contact us first so we can try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), to the data protection authority in your EU country, or to your state attorney general in the US.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if anything changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
